Question by Xinio64-Noldor Mage: What’s the difference between “Religion and Spirituality” and “Mythology and Folklore”?
To me, religion is mythology that people still believe in. Greek paganism would be qualified as a religion 2000 years ago but mythology today because nobody believes in it. Christianity is just mythology people still believe in. What do you think?

Question by Calintz: About Alchemy, Is it more than just basic chemistry?
I mean it’s basically modern chemistry, i know, but i mean, There’s got to be more secrets behind it. How can we really declare everything about Alchemy, that back then it was all a hokes? There are texts and books but i know that there are more truths lying inside the art.

Answer by brusher Alchemists believed they could take a metal and change it into gold (change one element into another element). From what we know about atoms, what defines an element is the number of protons it has (neutrons and electrons can vary slightly, creating different isotopes or ions). In order for alchemy to work, we would need to be able to change the number of protons an atom has. This is possible by shooting ‘protons’ (H+) at the atom, but to my knowledge results in unstable elements that become radioactive (probably due to the lack of electrons and or neutrons to compensate for the additional positive charge from the proton). They eventually decompose to a less radioactive form.
edit: Obviously we don’t know everything, so there could be some truth in alchemy (besides what we have recycled in modern chemistry). You could become like Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein and try to learn what you can from the ‘ancient sciences’
Question by 0dd1: When exactly in the Middle Ages did alchemy emerge?
All I know is that around the 12th and 13th centuries alchemy emerged in Europe as a pseudo-science. Can anyone give me a more specific point when alchemy became popular?
Best answer:
Answer by commanderabel It’s almost impossible to pinpoint something like the origin of alchemy. Its roots certainly reach back as far as Rome and perhaps further into the East, particularly Persia. I would say you have the date correct for the modern form of alchemy, which is the search for the Philosopher’s Stone (and not a way to turn lead into gold.)

Everything You Need To Know About The World of Warcraft Alchemy
The Alchemist combines herbs in order to create potions with a diversity of effects. A player can create healing, invisibility, elemental resistance, and mana potions; oils to coat weapons; and much more.
Alchemy is helpful to all character classes. Melee fighters can use alchemy to evoke buffs and healing potions. Spell casting classes can use alchemy to create mana potions and related buffs. Alchemy is a fun profession where you can create potions for yourself, sell them to others, or give them to your party members and friends. Alchemists are well loved when they hand out potions.
First, you need to locate an alchemy trainer. You can always ask for assistance from guards in a big cities to find a trainer if you’re lost. Learning alchemy doesn’t involve any special equipment or devices beyond the required reagents. Alchemy always requires flasks to make potions. There are four flasks: Empty, leaded, crystal, and imbued. You can make potions anywhere.
If you hope to be an alchemist you should already be an berbalist. It is likely to be an alchemist without being an herbalist but is not suggested. Potions are created from herbs. You will also need to buy various reagents from the profession merchants as well as find rare reagents from monsters, fishing, chests, or other players.
The Alchemy trainer will teach you many recipes. Additional recipes will have to be found from monster drops, chests, or (more commonly) bought from other players. You can unlock extra recipes with reputations. Make sure you tell your friends you are an Alchemist and they may bring you recipes and reagents.
You can sell potions to other players. Build up a stack of potions then work out a good price for them. You may have to try out with the prices until you achieve the right price. Advise players about the benefits of your potions and why they should want to buy them. Some potions will be more popular than others. Everyone likes healing potions! Sell your potions in the auction house.
Flasks are potions that can grant very powerful buffs that last through death and are very important for Raiding. Alchemists can create powerful resistance potions that are useful in dungeons and raids. Alchemists can transmute rrcanite and sell it or sell the use of the transmute to other players alchemists can also transmute metals alchemy buffs only sometimes stack with spell buffs. Question by john d: why is transmutation not mentaiond much in a book of alchemy?
I know, that alchemy is regarded as a religonas well as a science, but when i read this encyclopedia of alchemy, the only articals i found relating to transmutation were: the Alchimistisches medallion, and the Philosopher’s stone. if anyone can tell me why, please do.
Best answer:
Answer by Darker Shades Of Black first of all transmutation and alchemy are one and the same.
“alchemy” comes from the greek word “kemei” meaning (transmutation).
the thing is. our idea of them has changed. we say “alchemy” we think symbols, potions, maps, metals. when we say “transmutation” we think of terning one thing in to something different.
If Alchemy is the transmutation of the base to the precious, then transmutation itself must lend itself as well to numerous interpretations.
alchemy is the study of transmutation and every thing involved in it. charts, metals, animals, and so on…
well transmutation is the actual “recipe” lets say, of the thing you want to create.
medallions, philosopher’s stone, homunculus, chimeras. and all under the category of transmutation.
there haven’t been that meany “things” transmuted in the history of alchemy.which is why you might not find that much info on the subject.
