Insular Christianity or Celtic Christianity describes the Catholic Church among the Celtic peoples. Celtic (or Insular) Christianity may be distinguished by its organization around monasteries rather than dioceses, and certain traditions, especially in matters of liturgy and ritual, that were different from those of the greater sub-Roman world.
The religion diverged strongly from its roots after the eighth century. Refer to the wikipedia article for more information.
